NEWCASTLE INTERNATIONAL
After the establishment of the very solid and reputable branches of Newcastle University in Malaysia and Singapore, it was found that despite the great educational and physical structures of the University, the Students’ perception of the “Newcastle Experience” is not as strong as compared to their mother campus counterparts. Hence, the need for globalisation efforts was discovered, despite the great local social support provided by respective Student Associations.

From there, globalisation efforts were taken in the year of 2015-2016 by the Student Associations of the Malaysia and Singapore campuses, and therefore, the Newcastle International (NI) organisation was born.

After assessment of the outcomes and shortcomings of the competition, the committee found that greater causes involving the global community should be taken upon and presented in a different manner. Then, further expansion of the organisation involved collaborating with the Student Union of the UK campus and hence, re-establishment of the modus operandi of the competition took place.

Now, the competition focuses on three aspects, namely, international networking, interdisciplinary collaborations, and tackling current global issues to bring global change and was rebranded under the name of Newcastle International: Changemakers of Tomorrow (NICOT).
